Easter Sunday 2013

Our Easter started out pretty good.  The Easter bunny came and brought some fun springtime toys for the kids (kite, sidewalk chalk, bubbles) and after enjoying the excitement and the candy, we got ourselves off to church.  That was great, too.  We watched a video during RS/EQ about the Savior that made me cry.  I don't often grasp the magnitude of what he suffered, but Easter is a day that brings it home.  Sienna said her first prayer in primary (and Ryan and I both forgot about it and were not there...) and did a great job.  Her teacher, Sister Tingey, told me that she went up to the microphone and prayed without any help or resistance.  I was surprised and glad that she was confident enough to do that!

Church ended.  The fun began.

We drove home and quickly realized that we were locked out of our house.  Ryan and I had both locked a different door with the knob lock...which we do not carry keys for.  After 30 minutes of trying and failing to get my parents on the phone, we decided we had better get some food to feed our family.  We were getting ready to leave when my Dad called and gave us permission to break a window.  Ryan used a sledgehammer to break on out, and then very carefully climbed through the hole with jagged glass all around him.  He had to jump down onto a mattress that was covered in more broken glass.  It could have been a trip to the ER, but luckily he didn't hurt himself.

I spent a while cleaning up the glass and then had to leave to take some baby photos of baby Audrey, leaving Ryan to cook the potato casserole that we had been assigned to make.  We had an Easter Egg hunt and a ham dinner at Grandma and Papa's later that night.

It is going to make a funny memory someday (especially because the next night as we were getting ready to take dinner to Grandma and Papa's we got locked out AGAIN and Ryan had to risk getting stabbed by glass AGAIN) but for now, it's sad that our strongest memory of Easter is going to have nothing to do with the Savior.
